Starting in our 40s, the effects of age, sun exposure, and general stresses start to become apparent in our faces. The facelift procedure is designed to try to reverse these changes and give the face and neck a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. If you notice that you have deepened lines around your cheeks and the corners of your mouth, or if you feel that your facial skin and jowls are sagging, then a facelift may be the right procedure to help rejuvenate your appearance.
Facelift surgery not only rejuvenates the face, but also addresses the neck area. It does not, however, address the eyes or forehead/brow. Fortunately, a facelift procedure can be combined with other procedures including eyelid rejuvenation (blepharoplasty) or forehead/brow rejuvenation (brow lift) to provide a complete facial rejuvenation package.
Toronto plastic surgeon Dr. Pirani uses an innovative facelift technique which minimizes scarring compared to typical facelifts offered by most plastic surgeons. Dr. Pirani prides himself on providing his patients with a facelift that enhances your natural beauty but still maintains a natural appearance.
A facelift actually addresses not only facial rejuvenation but also neck rejuvenation. Accordingly, people who have noticed signs of aging and sagging of the skin in the face as well as the neck would benefit from facelift surgery.
Because facelift surgery addresses both the face and the neck, the benefits of this procedure can be broken down into these two separate areas.

If you’re concerned that your face and neck are starting to appear aged and concerned about obtaining a more youthful appearance, then you are a good candidate for a facelift procedure.
In addition, patients should be healthy. Smokers will have to quit smoking for at least 3 to 4 weeks prior to surgery. Patients should avoid taking any medications that make them prone to bleeding, such as aspirin.
Toronto facelift surgeon, Dr. Pirani, performs an innovative facelift and neck lift procedure which allows him to perform the neck lift and neck rejuvenation through the facelift incision, thus reducing the need for an extra scar in the neck. This is an innovate new approach that very few other Toronto plastic surgeons or facelift surgeons perform.
The scar one should expect from Dr. Pirani’s innovative technique is a short scar which begins just in front of the ear in the hairline area and extends behind the front of the ear and then around the earlobe to end just behind ear.
Typical facelift incisions extend up quite far into the temple area and also extend quite far back behind the ear into the hairline in the back of the head. Dr. Pirani’s short scar technique avoids the need for this in most cases.
Through Dr. Pirani’s innovative short scar, he is able to elevate and tighten the underlying sagging facial musculature and soft tissues. From the single short facelift incision, Dr. Pirani also tightens the neck muscles in order to rejuvenate the neck region. If there is excess fullness in the neck region, Dr. Pirani will also perform liposuction in the neck to address this.
Dr. Pirani’s facelift approach is innovative and effective. It provides excellent results with minimal scarring. Dr. Pirani prides himself on providing natural results without the telltale signs of having facelift surgery.
After your facelift, Dr. Pirani will usually have you stay overnight in our accredited surgical facility. You’ll be attended to by 2 nurses during your stay. These nurses will make sure that you’re safe and comfortable. Dr. Pirani will see you the next morning to change your dressings and make sure that you’re doing well.
Initially, there will be some bruising and swelling present, but this usually resolves over a few weeks. Most people will return to work within 10-14 days after facelift surgery.
There is a large amount of information to review during a facelift consultation. Dr. Pirani will usually spend approximately an hour with you during this consultation to go over all of the surgical details and options prior to creating a custom surgical plan for you that addresses all of your concerns and goals. He will go over risks and complications and give you an idea of what you should expect in terms of results and recovery. Dr. Pirani’s goal is to educate you so that you fully understand your customized surgical plan. At the Toronto Plastic Surgery Center, we want you to be fully informed so that you understand everything about your treatment plan.
